The biggest factors are how many palletisers are being installed, how complex the system is, and how ready the site already is. A single compact cobot cell going into a space with power, air and conveyor connections already in place can be commissioned in a matter of days.
Larger or multi-line installations — particularly ones involving conveyor integration, safety fencing, or dual-feed SKU handling — take longer because each of those needs its own testing and sign-off before the system goes live.
Do I need to stop production to install automation?
In most cases, no. Systems are usually installed alongside existing operations, with final connections and commissioning carried out during planned downtime or a scheduled shutdown period. The goal is to minimise disruption and keep the rest of the line running normally while the new cell is brought online.
